My mom, Jacqueline Leonard, has been the victim of domestic violence by Nicholas Dane Faes for over 2 years. She is my mother. Throughout these 2 years, he has given her 4 concussions through beatings, held her captive for days, burned her, killed multiple pets, and attempted to set her house on fire with her roommate inside once before. I am being honest with this campaign: my mom has fought to get him released or convicted of a lesser charge every single time. This is why he was able to successfully set her house ablaze with my disabled grandfather inside on 1/4/22– making the home no longer habitable. That being said, when he was charged with arson previously, the District Attorney should have prosecuted him to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of her actions. I am not asking for sympathy for my mother— she chooses to be involved with him. However, the only hope I have of saving her life, and others’, is through his prosecution. Although my mom has fought for his release, she is mentally ill and not competent to make that decision— especially considering her drastic personality changes after receiving multiple head injuries from him. My mom cannot protect herself, so I am urging for your help. This can, and will, effect more people than just her. Nicholas Dane Faes has even called my job after beating my mother and claimed he “knew where I worked” and would assault me when I walk to my car. Not to mention the innocent animals who have died by his hands, and the neighbors who were effected by this fire—receiving damage to their homes. All I ask is for your signature. Please help me urge the District Attorney to finally end this vicious cycle and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. He is dangerous, and a danger to anyone within the vicinity of his arson attacks.
