Public Relations Council of India started this petition to People of India

On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, we at PRCI of Public Relation Council of India, a national communicators’ body, have launched this campaign to create awareness among voters to exercise their franchise.

The campaign in the Gandhian way assumes significance in view of the forthcoming elections in November in some states and the general elections early next year.

The election commission has launched national voters service portal https://www.nvsp.in/ and all should log-in and make use of the service.

Experience has been that the poll percentage has been quite low during the past elections and many voters chose to skip the booths and go on a holiday. Through this campaign our endeavour is to impress upon the people, particularly the youth, to participate in the democratic activity and chose candidates of their choice.

Mahatma Gandhi as the greatest communicator had won us freedom and democratic rights to choose our own governments, instead of reeling under foreign rule.

Navi Mumbai First Charitable Trust supported the drive. There is no doubt that all of us must come out and vote during the elections. It is our right and we must exercise it instead of cribbing over bad politicians and leaders not attending to our problems such as potholes, pollution, degradation of environment and affordable housing.

Apart from this open letter to people of India, the drive will encompass twitter, facebook and instagram campaigns involving all communication professionals such as corporate communication, PR, media, advertising, marketing, HR practitioners and mass communication students across the country.

We request all of you to support the drive and spread the good word among all above 18 years of age – be them the kin, relatives and friends. Please spread it on your groups too.

#StepOut2Vote.
