Owning a dog is a full time commitment. Bringing a dog into your home, on a whim, because they are cute, fun, and a good companion is not good reason to own one. So often, dogs move from home to home, stay in shelters, and/or are put down because their owners don't make sure they have the time, energy, and money necessary to owning one. Your dogs are a part of your life, but to them you're their entire life.

Please screen potential dog owners before allowing them to take home a dog. Make sure future owners are aware of the work that needs to be put in in order to own this wonderful companion.

These are a few things I'd like to be screened from ALL sellers:

1. Financial means ( e.g. many college students own dogs and don't have the financial means to feed, groom, book vet apts.)

2. Housing situation (e.g. if they're going to move houses, do they know for certain that their new apartment will allow dogs)

3. Personal Situation - have them think about how their life will change in 5-10 years, and question if their lifestyle is suitable to owning a dog ( e.g. having a baby, new romantic partner, etc.)
