Petition to  People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

MESSAGE: Better treatment for billions of egg laying hens! Laying hens in commercial egg production around the globe are commonly confined to small, wire cages, where they can barely spread their wings. These birds are denied nearly all freedom to express their natural behavior, such as perching, nesting, dustbathing,  foraging and even walking more than a few steps.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)  is developing a global standard on animal welfare and laying hen production systems, and the current draft states that egg producers should provide the opportunity for hens to express these behavioral needs. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)  must stand strong against pressure from the international egg industry, which is actively opposing the draft standard.

  • Citizens around the globe care about the humane treatment of animals and want hens to have the space they need to spread their wings.

* Please we urge the  People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to retain the strong, science-based language in your global standard, and help the industry transition to cage-free  systems.
