We are too convenient with our environment. Many people are not aware of the consequences of not taking care of our mother Earth. We are buying a lot of convenient products because it is easy to dispose of and replace them.

According to The World Counts, there are 2.2 billion tons of waste dumped every year on the planet. If we continue this ‘throw-away’ concept it will make our community struggle with waste management problems. Additionally, we will experience soil pollution, air pollution, pollution of the ocean, and pollution of groundwater. As per the study of Global Footprint Network, we are already at 75% of what the earth can sustain with regard to waste absorption and resource extraction. With this, we need more than one Earth planet to provide our resources and absorb our waste.

There’s no time to waste and everyone must be on board. Each and every one of us can make an impact through public awareness and action. We must act now. We must know how to segregate solid waste like biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable waste. We can also do this simple 5Rs method of waste management. The first is to ‘Reduce’ or lessen the amount of garbage. The second is to ‘Reuse’ the materials again for a different purpose. The third is ‘Recycle’ or to create new products out of waste materials. The fourth is ‘Recover’. This is the process of getting back or converting waste to another form of raw material that can be used by product manufacturers. That last one is ‘Repair’ or the process of restoring or replacing a broken part of a material.

Living in a sustainable environment is much more convenient for all of us. Nurturing our nature is our future. Sign this petition, and let’s make a difference.
