People are dying – approve showing ONE’s famine ad on TV in the UK now
The Issue
If you’ve not yet seen ONE’s new campaign video ‘The F Word’, you really should. With 30,000 children dying in just 3 months, famine truly is the real obscenity. The problem is that here in the UK, the authorities who decide whether or not an ad can be shown on commercial TV have banned it.
You might assume that the authorities were offended by the ‘swearing’ in the video, but that’s not why they won’t show it. The ban ‘is because the ad itself is not a traditional money raising ad, rather it seems to be aiming to motivate and enlist people to create change’. They worry the video is too political to be shown. With 750,000 people on the brink of starvation, of course we want do something to stop this. And so should they.
