Stop Penrith Council restricting our parking spaces. Council wants to restrict our local car parking in several car parks around Penrith, and reduce time limits from 2 hours to 1 hour in the Allen Street Parking lot and the Union Road Parking lots.
Being a new business owner in a hairdressing salon in the middle of High Street Penrith and backing onto the Allen Street car park, my clients who are my livelihood are very restricted with the times they can park to have their hair appointments. As we all know, we all need hair appointments and some can take from 20 mins to 4-5 hours depending on what the client is having done.
Could you imagine how many times that one client with foil in their hair and colour on their heads would have to go outside in public to move their cars and find another space to continue their service or expect to get a lovely parking fine ranging from $100 - $180... They even have to move to another section of Penrith near the Bowling club and walk back through the streets. Not good at all!!!!! I have male clients that drive around now and if they can't find a spot, they go home and try the next day. We need this parking to keep our businesses alive.
My small business alongside all those other small businesses around me in High Street and adjoining streets will all be affected. If we lose time and parking spots we will have no business at all. There is nothing inviting people into upper High Street as it is, so taking time off parking will only make it worse.
Fight for our parking Penrith and take a stand. We are all over the parking situation in Penrith, everyone talks about it, so now it's our chance to do something about it. Sign this petition please and make a difference.
