Christian Fraser started this petition to Penola High School Principle- and

As of last Saturday 4th May 2019 the Penola Community library ceased opening its doors on Saturday mornings. This decision was made with minimal community input and no widespread notice of the decision.

The community library provides a valuable service to all citizens of Penola and the Saturday morning opening hours are especially useful for senior citizens, working people, people with families and tourists, all of whom are regular users of the service.

This decision reaches further than the Penola town limits, if you live in the country and are concerned about deteriorating services and lack of access it is time to make your thoughts known.

This decision was made directly by the principle of Penola High School and the Penola Community Library head librarian and I would call on them to reverse this appalling decision immediately. I would also call on the Wattle Range council and the South Australian Department of Education to apply appropriate pressure as the providers of funding for the Community library.

After a robust discussion with the principle last week it was discussed that the decision would be reviewed and community feedback sought, but with no guarantee of transparency or a commitment to reopen the library in the interim.

By signing the petition below, you will be giving a clear signal that you want to protect your community library and feel strongly about protecting services I the country. And feel free to contact the Penola High School Principle to let them know (in a constructive manner) that you support the Community library.
