Fix Universal Credits issues Affecting the vulnerable

I have seen several news articles/stories about the many issues that have affected the Universal Credit system and most of the issues have hit the most vulnerable!!
There has been clear issues affecting a huge amount of people with rolling out this Universal Credit System as any benefits being received by an individual stops immediately when you apply for the Universal Credit - sometimes they stop the same day. Therefore unless you have some sort of savings or someone to rely on you have zero money coming in until your claim is successful & paid out which in some cases is taking more than 8 months!!
There is strong evidence to suggest that a very small percentage of people applying for Universal Credit have any substantial savings to bridge these income gaps that have been created by this new system. This is a fact that the Department for Work & Pensions know very well and so it is shocking that they have set in motion this change without ensuring that it is absolutely robust or have a quick response department that effectively sorts any hiccups out.
BBC news tonight have again just reported on one of these cases where a young vulnerable mother who has suffered from depression and anxiety for a few years now has been waiting for 8 months for her payment with no money and so she has sold her TV, her mobile phone and has been relying on food bank handouts for 7 months. She is still waiting....
Although the claim decisions have been largely quick for most people (i.e. those who are able to apply online and are savvy enough to understand the system and application process) the Department for Work and Pensions MUST swiftly sort out these remaining issues, which are largely affecting the most defenceless and vulnerable, which is NOT acceptable.
Please support this petition and do not be a silent witness to this catastrophe which is inhumane.
