APSCUF - The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties started this petition to Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education

Chancellor Brogan, Chairman Pichini, and the PASSHE Board of Governors should be proud that the universities comprising Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education provide adjuncts with salaries above the often-poverty-level wages paid elsewhere, provide access to healthcare, retirement, and other benefits, offer better working conditions than most campuses/systems, and offer a pathway to tenure-track status. Faculty at all 14 universities are thankful for this step in the right direction toward fair treatment of their colleagues.

PASSHE adjunct faculty appreciate the recognition by Chancellor Brogan and the Board of Governors that fair salaries and benefits are not luxuries PASSHE adjunct faculty receive, but elements essential to fulfilling the System’s mission of providing high-quality public education to the Commonwealth's university students.

We, the undersigned, thank Chancellor Brogan, Chairman Pichini, and the other PASSHE Board of Governors for continuing to set standards in treating adjunct faculty fairly, and for working with APSCUF to improve conditions for those who are too often treated unfairly by other institutions. Recognizing the correlation between adjunct working conditions and student learning conditions is critical to ensuring quality higher education.
