I care about changing this because I have been a victim of domestic violence more than I care to admit. I have had three protection from abuse for the same person. The law needs to change regarding repeated offenders. Victims should not have to keep filing for a protection from abuse from the same offenders. Harsher sentences should be rendered for repeated offenders so that the victims can finally focus on getting counseling and moving on with their life. If children are involved I believe that mandatory psychological evaluation should be given before releasing or forcing children to be in the presence of the offender. I feel so strongly about this because maybe if stricter laws were in place it would have helped protect my daughter and we would not be victims of domestic violence; and she would not be a victim of sexual abuse.
