My husband and I live in Erie now. There are several colleges & universities in Erie, but no community college that serves our community exclusively. Erie needs a community college that is accessible to anyone as a show of good faith that it truly cares about its own.

It's time to shake off the chains of oppression and suppression. Last I checked, Public Education is a right. This has been too long in the making. It stinks of a 401 year old ugliness. Let's make change for the better now - together.

I have raised and helped my own three children pay for college. I understand many don’t have the privilege. Education is the best equalizer in our country. I support a community college in Erie County.

I am signing this because education is the great equalizer. Or at least it is a good start. We can do better Erie Pennsylvania.

Erie is the largest metropolitan city in the
United States without a community college.

Why Should We Care?

Local workers often don’t have the skills to fill job requirements, so local employers are forced to give good paying jobs to people out of town, jobs that could go to you and other local residents instead.

Affordable education centers-- like Porreco College, Triangle Tech, and Fortis Institute--have closed their doors.

As a taxpayer, we are already paying for 14 Community Colleges across the state of Pennsylvania, but there isn’t one here in our hometown.

Job Preparation

An Erie Community College would offer classes for the trades, like welding, as well as other college courses. We want to ensure Erie residents are prepared to fill a range of job positions available now, especially in the manufacturing sector.

To ensure students can be hired locally after graduating, Community College classes were picked after speaking with local manufacturers and some of the largest employers in the area .

A community college could help low income adults such as myself get a higher education we would otherwise not be able to afford.
