Lower Pennsylvania Learners Permit Age to 15

Lower Pennsylvania Learners Permit Age to 15
Why this petition matters

I believe Pennsylvania should lower it to age 15. The government would get more tax money. Teenagers would be more responsible. Parents could ask their teens to run some errands. Since there would be many young people who want to drive, money will be spent on things like buying a new car. A sixth of that will go to the government. We should lower the permit age because of reaction time. Reaction time is important because it keeps the passengers in the vehicles safe, and drivers around you safe. When you’re younger, your reaction time is faster. Especially compared to the average Elderly driver. If we lower the permit age I believe we’ll see a shortage of crashes caused by delayed Reaction time. If we lower the permit age to 15 more teens will buy vehicles and make them feel more responsible and potentially increase morale. This will also teach teens the value of money when having to pay for their own gas. Which will lead to smarter financial adults. My final reason is logic and reasoning. Experts believe that 15 & 16 year olds have the same logical reasoning of a young adult. John Bryant, at Hinsdale Central since 1974, said “The team driving issues are not about age and maturity as much as they are about making good choices and demonstrated exceptional behavior.” Whether you start your driving experience at 15, 16, 17, or 18 maturity should come before a number. Lowering the learners permit age to 15 will not only benefit the Government but for the people of the state of Pennsylvania.
