Help vehicles drive 35 mph on Yates Street, Mt. Holly Springs, PA

Our neighborhood, comprised of over 20 homes, is just over a half-mile stretch on the south end of the borough, just before the Route 34 speed limit changes to 55 mph. Most homes sit just off Route 34, and a number of small children play in yards and driveways that face the road.
Since cars and 18-wheel trucks move south and north past our homes, either slowing down from 55 mph or gearing up for it, we experience safety issues while children are at play or we maintain our yards. We also endure excess noise from acceleration and deceleration -- the most notable of which includes air brakes from tractor trailers.
A long-time neighbor made a simple suggestion to help cars and trucks maintain 35 mph on this stretch in front of our homes: Reduce the 55 mph stretch to 45 mph within the borough limits. This reduction will give cars and trucks moving north a chance to gear down (from 55, to 45) and manage 35 mph on our half-mile stretch. Vehicles moving south will only look to accelerate from 35 to 45 along this stretch and the worst case scenario would be an increase in 10 mph, not 20.
This reasonable solution would require only two sign replacements. It would also permit borough police sufficient line of sight to monitor speed in this area, making it safer for children and adults in the borough which is intersected by this state road.
