Joe Sullivan started this petition to Pennridge School Board

On this day September 4th, the Pennridge boy’s cross country team received news that we were not allowed to go shirtless on any of our runs anymore. This greatly effects us because of how hot and tiring our runs and workouts get. Some days the temperature goes up to 90 degrees or more. When you combine that with our vigorous long runs and fast paced workouts, shirts are not ideal. They are heavier, especially when our sweat dampens them. They also make us runners extremely hot and uncomfortable during our runs. It gets to a point where most of us cannot run anymore and are dangerously close to heat exhaustion and passing out. It is still the summer season, the heat is at its worst and the sun is bright, this is one of the only things us runners can do to make us feel cooler and more comfortable. We understand the girls team cannot wear only sports bras which is also unfair. This is an absurd ban that just puts runners at risk for illnesses and worse.

Sincerely,

Concerned members of the Pennridge Boys Cross Country Team
