I am fed up with University leaders and the Board of Trustees routinely leaving people out of the process who matter the most. We demand responsiveness, transparency, representation, and forward thinking, not this silent, opaque, special interest, rear-guard illogic.

I'm surprised that the University would put on public display what could so clearly be seen as disregard, even disdain, for its faculty and students in choosing an academic leader. Process matters.

The university states that it believes in shared governance. Therefore, in a place where the president represents the interests of the faculty and students, the president must be selected with substantial input from the faculty.

When the university treats itself like a business, it forgets what it is here for and weakens itself fundamentally.

The university main stakeholders are staff, faculty and students and they must be represented in the Presidential recruitment and selection committee

We should have a President who understands academic culture, not a CEO or politician.

I'm signing because We are! a House of Higher Education. We're hiring a University President and not the CEO of a private company.

Now more than ever, Penn State needs a president who understands that a university is an academic institution, not a business. We have always had leadership that understood this, unlike some of our peers who have appointed political cronies or businessmen with no experience in or knowledge of academe. We cannot go down that road now.

Faculty and staff must have a voice in the selection of our next university president. It is the equitable and right thing to do.
