We the undersigned Pelican Preserve residents respectfully request that up to two hours of daily gym time be set aside for residents who are vaccinated and who agree to wear masks continuously throughout their time in the gym. Doctors and other medical professionals are now advising everyone to wear masks indoors, however this advice becomes a requirement for all the residents among us who are immune compromised and/or high risk. Their doctors have prescribed continuing daily exercise using a range of equipment for at least 3 or more hours a week, but the gym and its equipment, for which we all pay, is not safe to use without everyone wearing masks.  

Masks are not harmful or even a challenge to wear while working out. Residents who are, or have been, in cardiac rehab or other forms of aerobic physical therapy during the pandemic can testify that working out and breathing hard while wearing a mask is not at all difficult.

We are all doing our best to stay safe during this surge of Omicron and beyond, and we care about residents who are immune compromised and/or high risk. We all pay for, deserve, and need an opportunity to maintain and improve our health through a reasonable, one or two hour daily accommodation of gym time. 

We recommend a consistent time frame, similar class schedules, e.g.: "Daily mask-only time for vaccinated residents is xx a.m. and xx p.m.”,………./
