The San Antonio neighborhood of Hills and Dales is in need of additional speed enforcement, speed bumps, and signage, in order to address a speeding problem that endangers pedestrians. Due to the location of a growing church and school, the streets of Red Robin, Wild Eagle, Shady Hollow, and Green Glen all see atypically high traffic rates during certain periods. The neighborhood has many elderly, children, and pets that are endangered by inattentive and rushing drivers.
Recently, our family dog, Kako, was hit and killed during the morning school dropoff and work departure rush. Kako was in training to become a service dog for my father, and our family was heartbroken by her loss. We want to ensure that she is the last victim of speeding in our neighborhood, and are seeking as many viable solutions to help address the problem.
Our goal is to address the issue by getting the city to install speed bumps and additional signage, and to ensure the police department is effective in addressing any illegal speeding in our neighborhood.
