Priscilla Ukorah started this petition to Pearson Vue and
Not long ago, the Nursing and midwifery Council UK reduced the cost of their exams (CBT & OSCE) for the Internationally Educated Nurses so as to aid recruitment and same has been effected as seen on their website with the CBT now costing 90GBP and the OSCE 794GBP.

However, some Pearson Vue test centres in Nigeria have taken this opportunity to milk poor nurses who are applying for the CBT exams. Looking at the current exchange rate, the main exam fee in naira is not more that 45,000 naira. Let's say that these centres need to charge for the services they render, this should not be more than 10,000 to 15,000 naira giving a total of 55,000 naira or at most, 60,000 naira. However, these centres charge a minimum of 70,000 naira and up to 90,000 naira or even more!

Therefore, we are appealing to the Nursing and Midwifery Council UK and Pearson Vue to see to the control of the cost of CBT with respect to the local currency by:

1. Putting a fixed price on the Pearson Vue website
2. and allowing applicants to make payments with their own personal payment cards so that they would not be at the mercy of the test centre operators who might decide to manipulate the costs as this has been the case so far.

If this happens, the NMC's goal of having more qualified nurses in the UK can be achieved and more nurses would be encouraged to take the exams.

I am a Registered Nurse from Nigeria who knows what it takes to make a decent salary monthly. I have earned as little as 25,000 naira monthly with family responsibilities and cost of living, thus making my dream of going to the UK become almost impossible. believed or not, there are people who earned lesser than I earned who might NEVER be able to achieve their dreams if these test centres continue this act of extortion.

Something NEEDS to be done, Please!
