Waive edTPA in NC for student teachers due to COVID-19
Why this petition matters
COVID-19 has changed our lives in so many ways, yet we as future educators remain with the same optimism and determination to become the best educator for our future students. But we can not do that without your support.
Because of COVID-19, most student teachers are not able to step a foot inside their placement schools. This makes it extremely difficult to connect with our students but most importantly, it makes it almost impossible to complete edTPA (an intense performance-based assessment that requires long hours of planning, critical commentary, videotaping, and collecting data).
North Carolina is currently requiring student teachers to pass edTPA in order to receive their teaching license. I am writing this petition in hopes of reaching our North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction, Mark Johnson, to waive the edTPA requirement for student teaching in the school year of 2020-2021.
Please help support current and future educators by signing this petition, together we can make a difference.
