Over the last couple of years, marijuana has been legalised in many American states, both for medical use and recreational use. I, just like many other Australians believe its time for Australia to do the same. Decades of research have discovered that marijuana isn't harmful or addictive, if used properly and it is healtiher for you than alcohol and tobacco. There is a long list of medical traits that cannabis has and those traits should be utilised. It is able to stop seizures, treats glaucoma, relaxes muscle and is an antispasmodic, among a lot of other things. It is also a renewable resource to make bio-degradeable plastic, paper, fuels and materials. Having cannabis legalised for medical use will free up our jails, free up our courts and free up tax payers dollars that are spent keeping cannabis offenders behind bars. It will also help take cannabis off the streets. Taking business away from drug dealers. It's other benifits are that when sold through businesses like dispensaries, it will generate revenue for Australia, boosting Australia's economy and it will also help pay for the healthcare system Australians are so lucky to have. I see it as a viable option to help Australia in more than one way. Even if you wouldn't use cannabis yourself, it wouldn't hurt to sign this petition, because one day it may save someone you loves life.
