On 15 July 2020, planning permission was granted to demolish the garage block rear of 52-62B St Albans Road and build 5 two-storey houses.

Permission for the development was granted without proper consultation to all local residents who will be severely affected and disrupted by it. Only 5 properties were consulted. The developer failed to adequately inform and seek comment from all residents in St Albans Rd and surrounding area of the impact of the development, such as the installation of a traffic light system and crossing, reduced parking facilities and refuse system in a Cul de Sac.

Due to covid pandemic restrictions, it was not possible to pool a written response or elect a representative to attend the virtual meeting on behalf of the community. Sutton council refused to postpone the meeting to a time that enabled residents to build a case for their opposition.

This planned properties are an overbuild of the area and our roads cannot sustain the overcrowding. It presents a safety risk to children and health issues for older residents. The community's voice was not heard and we feel ignored.

We want the application to be reopened with a full consultation for all residents.
