Stop Congress from Using a Natural Disaster to Pork Up Their Own Districts & Pet Projects
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
As we all know, when the Hurricane Sandy Relief package was passed through the House of Representatives, it was full of pork for unaffected districts and completely unrelated projects.
We, the American People, are rather sick of that.
Please pass a clean Relief package that actually deals specifically with Hurricane Harvey relief.
If you and your fellow Congressional Representatives feel the need to add pork, please name it accordingly. Might I suggest:
"Hurricane Harvey Relief & Congress's Favorite Pork""
Anything else is completely dishonest.
Here are some examples of what you folks thought we would not notice in the Sandy Relief Package:
– $150 million for fishery disaster areas in Mississippi and Alaska
– $20,000 for a new car for the Inspector General of the Justice Department
– $10.8 billion for the Federal Transportation Administration; and cancellation of loans related to Hurricane Katrina
– $150 million for fisheries in Alaska damaged by a 2011 Japanese tsunami, which littered debris on Alaska’s shoreline
Please don't do this to us again. We're tired of it.
People affected need help. Americans want to help. Please don't use our generosity and community spirit against us.
