Keep Greg Gianforte out of House GOP Conference!

Dear Speaker Ryan and Conference Chair McMorris-Rodgers,
Physical violence is never justified. The voters of Montana chose Greg Gianforte to represent them in Congress. However, you also have a choice—please make the right one and do not allow Greg Gianforte to caucus with you until he is cleared of any and all criminal charges.
On May 25th, he was charged with assaulting Ben Jacobs, a reporter from the Guardian, on the day prior. Gianforte may've won the election, but that doesn't change the fact that he must appear in court on this charge prior to June 7.
We are concerned, not only about Gianforte's mental fitness for office, but also about the example Gianforte's behavior sets for young people and to fellow citizens of all ages: as a candidate for public office, he shouldn't have engaged in physical violence—especially not against a member of the press who, eyewitnesses say, was just doing his job.
Although Gianforte apologized to Jacobs during his election victory speech, he cannot undo his actions. Again, you have a choice to accept him in the House GOP Conference. Please send the right message to your constituents and to all Americans, and don't allow him in!
We, the undersigned
