Tell our Tory MP Paul Maynard to keep his promise on free TV licences for the over 75s

We are calling on Paul Maynard MP, Conservative MP for Blackpool North and Cleveleys, to keep the promise he was elected on in 2017 and keep the free TV licence for the over 75s.
For many older residents the TV is their constant companion and window on the world. And now it’s under threat.
It’a another ruthless welfare cut to some of the most vulnerable in society.
To break it down it will means that over 8,000 households across Blackpool and Thornton-Cleveleys will lose their TV licence. That’s £1.3million taken out of the pockets of local pensioners.
The BBC has announced they will means test free TV licences from the over-75s. Means-testing may sound fair but in reality it means our poorest pensioners facing a big new annual bill they simply can’t afford. But this is really the Government’s doing: they pushed the scheme onto the BBC without asking any of us what we think or providing the funding to sustain it.
Together, we must demand our Conservative MP and the Government takes back responsibility for funding free TV licences for everyone in Blackpool and Thornton-Cleveleys over 75.
