Free Train Travel for Service Personnel

Being in the UK's Armed Services often requires Serving Personnel to spend long periods of time away from home. Therefore any chance to go home and see loved ones is taken by most people, even if its just for the weekend. Taking the train is usually the easiest way, and often the only way, especially if you if you don't have a car. Recently, the price of train travel has increased further, from an already ridiculously high level. The fact that it would be cheaper to fly home from a multitude of overseas destinations than it would be to travel to different locations within the UK is completely absurd. With the price increases you would expect that the trains would be better. But they are not, put simply. Trains are still hideously overcrowded and there are never enough carriages at times when there will obviously be a lot of people wanting to get on board. When your paying £60-£70 (in many cases more!) for an already 33% discounted ticket, for a train you can barely stand in, then that just isn't right.
People who sacrifice time at home with their loved ones to serve our great nation shouldn't have to pay a fortune every time they go home. The People who can make this happen include The Rt Hon. Chris Grayling MP (Secretary of State for Transport); Jo Johnson MP (Minister of State); Paul Maynard MP (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State); Jesse Norman MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State) and Baroness Sugg of Coldharbour (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State). These are some of the top people in charge of all things transport related in the UK, including the Railways!
Some genuine action to make this goal happen would make such a difference to the thousands of people who Serve our Country.
