Most good parents will agree that head lice are a massive problem in most of our school, I like many parents are constantly treating and persistently combing my daughters hair.  The problem does not seem to get any better.

One week i have eradicate them and the week after they are back. It costs a lot of money and time to keep up with this but I don't want my daughter to suffer with the scratching and bullying that come with this.

All that the school can do is send out letters, they are to scared to upset any individuals and powerless in taking action. These letters may not reach some parents, there maybe language barriers to over come and some parents may just be uneducated or ignorant to the fact that their child maybe suffering.

This is why we need to bring back the school nurse to identify the children that need help with clearing head lice, their parents can be informed and educated discreetly on how to treat them also free effective treatments should once again be available on the NHS.

Please support this cause and sign this petition, please share on your school websites, ensure other parents to sign it and please share on social media. Treatment advice from NHS:

1. Please check all members of the family!

2. You can use medicated lotions and sprays that kill head lice in all types of hair. You can buy these from pharmacies, supermarkets or online.

3. Head lice should die within a day. Lotions and sprays come with a comb to remove dead lice and eggs. (Please remember that some eggs are that small they will miss the comb and will need to be picked out!)

4. Some treatments need to be repeated after a week to kill any newly hatched lice.

My Nan's advice that seemed to work or me: Vinegar and lemon in rinsing water and tea tree can help to keep head-lice at bay!
