Njomani Madlenya started this petition to Minister of primary and secondary education Zimbabwe Paul Mavima and

The education ministry has constantly been allocating posts in primary schools in Matebeleland to teachers who cannot speak the local Ndebele language. This has a detrimental effect on primary school children capacity to learn and understand educational content. At primary school level teachers often revert to vernacular languages to explain concepts that children are failing to grasp in English. The non - Ndebele speaking teachers will not be able to explain to the children in their native language. The Zimbabwe education ministry must stop deliberately posting non-Ndebele speaking teachers to Matebeleland primary schools. This is killing Ndebele language and making it difficult for the children to learn. This misdeed by the Zimbabwe education ministry has seen thousands of children dropping out of school before completing their O Levels. For those who progress to O level they experience difficulties in understanding simple concepts because these concepts were not explained to them in their mother tongue at primary school level hence they didn't have a good education foundation. They are doomed to fail. Communities in Matebeleland are full of failed children who have no future and end up resorting to crime or crossing borders to neighboring countries like Botswana and South Africa where they do menial jobs or resort to crime. Please help to stop this evil misdeed by signing this petition.
