Investigate ACUC approvals of maternal deprivation experiments

When unethical, painful, primate experiments that promise little or no tangible benefits are sanctioned by oversight committees, confidence in the system breaks down, public trust is undermined, and animals are harmed.

We urge you to conduct a full investigation of the approval of the maternal deprivation experiments; to make all relevant documents related to the committees' deliberations publicly available; to clarify the role of the ACUCs in rejecting protocols; and to include more public voice in the oversight process at UW.
