Allow Residents in Patterson NY to have portable carports on their property

Back in July 2017 the town of Patterson New York entered my property and posted a notice on my door to remove my portable carport. They 1st tried to tell me it was a fire hazard. I checked, it was not. 2nd they told me it required a permit because of its size, I checked, it did not need one. 3rd they tried to tell me even though I did not need a permit for it, I had to obey certain setback rules. This would have placed my carport in the middle of my driveway. 4th they told me what they really wanted was to keep the town looking a "Certain way". They took me to court. I requested to go to trial. During that time a huge branch fell onto my carport and put a big hole in it. So I took it down, notified the town, thought everything was done with. Now the town of Patterson is taking me to court to try and fine me $350 because of the time I had it up.
Not only did the town of Patterson violate me freedoms by stepping foot on my property and demanding I take a portable carport down you can buy right on Amazon, but after they got their way they are attempting to extort money from me.
I would like to ask my community in support to not only do away with this town code that violates our freedoms and allow carports but to also do away with an absurd tactic to extort money from its citizens.
