Patients Rights

Some hospital nation wide after accepting your insurance and comitted to treating you are letting 3rd party contractors or collection agents enter your room without a consult of your condition, current medicines being taken or attending doctors premission and ID themselves as employee's of the hospital. When in fact you have been turned over for collections before treatment has completed. Then they demand payment of your part or payment in full on the spot with the bluff threat of stopping your treatment and having you dismissed from further treatment. If a patient is under the use of certain medications by law they can not make correct decisions regarding their affairs, if a person is being treated for stroke, heart attack, head injury, mental defect or mentally challenged could in fact have another stroke, heart attack, fall or harm themselves further due to the destress of an attempt to leave before completing treatment or trying to leave to gain the payment being demanded. I know it happened to me with Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas and my treatment was delayed for 2 days due to the destress. It should be manditory that all hospitals after accepting a patient for treatment leave the collections or arangements to be paid for the time of dismissal or billing the difference after insurance has paid its part. I ask you sign my petition, contact your elected rep's and above all protect your right when seeking treatment for yourself. Place a block on your room for only involved treating medical staff and list all people who maybe coming to see you with the charge nurse and floor nurse manager. On your intake paperwork mark through all statements allowing 3rd party contractor to have access to you unless they have gotten written orders from your attending doctor. Protect your patients right and force the hospitals to live of to their promises and mission statements. Be proactive and protect your health for they will not!
