Paternity Leave in the US: #BabiesAreFuture
Why this petition matters
A warm welcome to everyone. I want to bring to attention about the most neglected minority group – parents of newborn babies facing the problem of paternity leave.
Statistics shows nearly 60% of working parents are forced into having arranged care for their infants and toddlers. The US Federal law allows FMLA which is unpaid leave and not everyone can afford it. So, let me explain few advantages of paid leaves for both the parents.
First of all, both the parents can get involved together with the household and baby care duties as mothers initially are physically weak and need up to 6 weeks to recover. Having your partner aside reduces the chances of the mother getting postpartum depression and she can have a good rest. This will lead to stress-free breastfeeding which provides all the immunity and nutrition to the baby naturally.
Also, if you spend enough time with your babies at their early age, that feeling will last with the baby. It is highly likely that when we turn old, the children will take care of us instead of putting in nursing homes. So, think about it and act wisely as it has long-lasting bonding.
Many studies from other countries proves that parents who went back to work after their paternity leave, show very much progress and less mental stress towards their work. Therefore, I want to stand for getting both the parents at least 6 weeks of paid leave.
Hence, for a better world, a sustainable future and for the best life, I would like to invite everyone, please come together and join me in signing the petition to get us the very essential paternity leave to reach the government.
