Jul 9, 2013 — Thanks for your support in signing this petition. Collectively, we can make a difference. Many people are still not aware that if this consolidation happens the park service will be acting as a middle man and make a good profit on the back of the ferry operator. For the first year, the park service will make at least 9% of the gross operation. This is estimated to be $80,000 to the park service in the first year. When a middle man is involved and expects a good profit each year this can only mean 1 thing...prices will go up!
The park service will be launching their boats from the Grayden Paul Park in Beaufort. This local swimming hole will be the departure site for the large ferry boats. The use of the park for the people of Beaufort will change forever. There will be over 80 parking spaces within 1,500 ft of the Town Hall designated for the use of the park service. The taxpayers of Beaufort will pay for the water, sewer, and electricity the park service uses. Is this really fair?
