We demand progress. You can make a genuine impact on the lives of people living with psoriatic disease all over the country by joining our fight today. Sign the petition to challenge our government to deliver breakthroughs in multidisciplinary care and equal access to treatment. We demand change in the perception of psoriatic disease within the medical community. Stop the stigma and fight for everyone living with psoriatic disease.

One in three people still believes that psoriatic disease only affects the skin.  The psoriatic disease affects the whole body, from the joints, the heart, including mental health. Patients must be informed about the consequences of psoriatic disease and empowered to seek support from knowledgeable doctors. This is not a merely cosmetic issue, it is a serious disease.

Psoriatic disease (also known as Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis) is a systemic condition affecting multiple body sites, predominately the skin, the joints, or both. In addition to skin and joint symptoms, the psoriatic disease is characterized by the increased risk of developing related non-communicable diseases and has a major impact on mental health and quality of life.

In 2014, all nations during the 67th World Health Assembly committed to improving the lives of people afflicted with psoriatic disease. Practical recommendations on how to achieve this ambitious goal were published in the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Report on Psoriasis in 2016. Unfortunately, more than five years after these milestones much is left to be done.

In July of 2021, Rep. Helen Tan, MD, filed House resolution number 9821, known as the National Psoriasis Care Act. This bill aims to ensure that Filipinos afflicted with psoriatic disease will have equitable and affordable access to medicines and treatment that could benefit the almost 2million population and their families.

There are an estimated two million Filipinos afflicted with this disease. Most of them remain to have little or no access to medicines and treatment, considering that the suicidal ideation rose from 18% to 24% during the pandemic.

Lack of opportunities for people with psoriatic disease due to discrimination and almost no access to treatment put a heavy burden on the patients living with this disease. Stigma on this disease due to lack of information helps aggravate the challenges that patients meet on a daily basis.
