This petition is to urge the passage of the Hermit's Peak Fire Assistance Act, which will provide relief to the people of northern New Mexico affected by the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire catastrophe. The US Forest Service has accepted responsibility for starting the massive out-of-control fire through a controversial prescribed burn. Congress must now act to restore the homes and jobs of thousands of good people in San Miguel and Mora Counties, many of whom live on ancestral land held for hundreds of years.
