Across the globe, millions of dogs and cats are stolen from their families or bred at horrendous meat farms, then put through excruciating torture such as being burned, beaten and skinned alive before they are butchered and their flesh sold for meat.

A bipartisan resolution -- H.Res.401 -- introduced on 6/22/2017 by Congressmen Alcee Hastings and Vern Buchanan brings new hope for these innocent animals by calling for an end to the dog and cat meat trade around the world. It is crucial that this resolution pass.

The Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China brought this horrendous industry to the national spotlight, but a shocking number of dogs and cats are also slaughtered in countries like South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, India and others.

“Approximately 30,000,000 dogs and a large number of cats are killed for human consumption annually across the globe," said Hastings. "This extreme display of animal cruelty is not only inhumane, but also a threat to public health for citizens and international visitors. The United States must demand that this horrific practice be stopped immediately.”

It will take a global effort to stop the horror once and for all, and it is our responsibility to keep up the fight until the suffering finally ends.

Please sign this petition urging Congress to pass this crucial legislation, which will help stop the ruthless dog and cat meat trade wherever it exists in the world.
