Save Innocent Animals From Poaching Now!

Poaching impacts the lives of millions of animal species, the environment and people globally. Poaching is the illegal hunting or capturing of animals and is a horrifying issue the world is facing today.  Human actions are driving animal species to extinction every year - a thousand times faster than they would go extinct naturally.

There are multiple factors contributing to this crisis. First is the amount of money poachers earn by killing. For example, one rhino horn in 2014 was worth more than 60,000 USD per kilo -- which is more than a kilo of gold. (“Animal Poaching for Traditional Chinese Medicine Threatens Key Species”).  Second is that animal products allegedly cure illnesses. On bear farms, Asiatic black bears have a metal catheter painfully pierced into their abdomen twice a day so people can access the bears gallbladder to extract bile (“Asian Bear Bile Remedies: Traditional Medicine or Barbarism”). Finally, is the belief animal products can show wealth and status. For example, elephant ivory in some East Asian countries is known as “white gold,” as it is seen as an investment in the future as ivory never goes bad. (Ong)

You may not think you can stop a poacher. But you can stop buying or using animal products that they are killed for. If we don’t take action now, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimates that 99.9 percent of critically endangered species and 67% of endangered species will be extinct by the next century (“It Will Take the Earth 3 Million Years to Recover from the Species Going Extinct in the near Future”).

I am one animal lover. Help make my voice heard by signing the petition to stop poaching and save animals. Today.
