I am reaching out to all people who suffer with chronic pain or other medical conditions to use what is commonly know as radiofrequency nerve ablation as a pain management treatment.

In March 2022 I learnt from my pain specialist that the Medicare Benefits Schedule a Review Taskforce to review medical treatments the Taskforce released theses to all Medical specialist and it included to nerve block and spinal injection MBS items.

Prior to these changes patients were allowed unlimited access to this treatment over the spine and could have it as often as they needed.

The Medicare scheduled taskforce have now put extreme restrictions on this treatment. This the ruling put in place by the Taskforce. t You are now only allowed to have 3 injections on both sides of the spine in three regions of the spine; upper Lumber middle Lumber and lower lumber and this is restricted to just once a year. 

These new restrictions will have a profound effect on patients. It is dose not allow our Medical specialists to tailor this treat patients pain needs. Radiofrequency nerve ablation work when patients are allowed to be treated properly. 

Please raise your voice against the government, they should not give so much power without consulting with medical agencies and professionals. Our government have not considered the human element on those who are affected by treatment restrictions.

These new restrictions will not be just on this treatment. There will be cuts to an untold amout of other MBS item numbers. 

We as Australian citizens have a right to have effective Medicare treatments. We pay taxes for this, its time we all say its enough and demand our government use public funding to allow its citizens the right to good health dignity and quality of life.
