Why this petition matters

No, we don’t get paid for the extra day in a Leap Year!

Every four years we experience a leap year and there are many myths surrounding this ‘special day’, such as women having the ability to propose to men.

Regardless of the myths one thing is for sure; annual salaries employees will not get paid for working the 29th of February, given we all receive 1/12th Of our salaries each month. Sure, there’s the job security and employee benefits but why are we working an extra day for free when it’s more than likely that we’re already putting in the extra hours?!

however, if you’re paid by the hour it is more than likely you are getting paid foot the extra day (well done you!) and long may it continue.

But, there is another way. What if we all got paid for that extra day? Make February the 29th a bank holiday and give us something to rejoice! When you think it about it; it’s crazy that it’s a working day, really.
