Free Movement Plans Drafted Between Australia & UK
Sep 19, 2019 —
In what comes as major news for our campaign, CANZUK International has learnt that plans are being drafted between the Australian and UK governments which will allow citizens to live and work in either country without the requirement of time-sensitive visas and work permits.
The proposal was discussed by the UK’s trade secretary, Liz Truss, and Australian Trade Minister, Simon Birmingham, in Canberra on Wednesday, with Truss stating, “we want a fully comprehensive trade deal that reflects our deep, ongoing relationship, the friendship between our two countries, the fact that Australians want to come and live and work in Britain, and Brits want to come and live and work in Australia”.

In addition, CANZUK International’s 2019 report, detailing the benefits of freedom of movement, free trade and foreign policy coordination between Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom has been submitted to each Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom.
The report titled “The Future of Post-Brexit Britain” outlines the numerous benefits of introducing freedom of movement for citizens and complimentary free trade agreements between Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and why the UK’s departure from the European Union is the opportune time to introduce such measures.
