Why this petition matters

Started by Xabiso Mbobo

Deliberate lack of accountability from President Cyril Ramaphosa and Cabinet.

  • The riots that erupted after the arrest and incarceration of former President Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma have fully exposed the incompetence of the National Executive, particularly the State Security Agency, the Department of Defence and the Department of Police. However, the President as the Head of the National Executive is more accountable, more especially, because the executive authority of the Republic is vested in him. Moreover, the President and the Cabinet have shown an ongoing culture of deliberate lack of accountability and have taken a stance of tolerance towards corruption.
  • The Cabinet as a whole has neglected the rural areas in former Bantustan areas. Rural villages are devoid of basic development such as sport and creative arts development, subsistence farming and economic development.
  • Despite South Africa having the largest population of white people in Africa who speak English, its rural learners are not taught spoken English.
  • Farm murders, cash in transit heists, Cape Flats` illicit drug trade, stock theft and porous borders are not being urgently dealt with.
  • The Cabinet is showing an unethical commitment of rescuing Cuba at the expense of ordinary South Africans.
  • Failure to reverse the withdrawal of South Africa from the Rome Statute.
  • Signing the Africa Free Trade Agreement without public consultation.
