Gary Carmichael started this petition to Parliament

We recently lost our Brother to cancer and as difficult as the unfair loss of life itself has been, this loss is compounded by taking away our human right to say goodbye as a close group of family and friends. Not being able to dress him in his own clothes or even being allowed to carry the coffin is nothing short of disgraceful and makes no sense. Only being allowed a 20 minute express service is disgusting and so disrespectful to his wife and our family. We can’t give a fair and proper send off, yet we can order a KFC or Burgerking, whilst delivery drivers queue up in full breach of social distance rules, we can mingle in supermarkets and B&Q for non essential items such as alcohol or tins of paint, all the while close to fellow customers and staff? Construction workers working in close proximity and absolutely no chance of observing social distance guidelines!!

Surely families should be allowed to be together in a larger group than 10 to 15 people to say goodbye, even if it meant wearing masks and gloves to provide an element of safety. Priorities are all wrong in this country and no empathy whatsoever being shown to grieving loved ones, obviously there must not be as much Tax and VAT from the funeral industry?

I am urging the government to do the right thing and relax these rules just as they are doing for non essential industries, it is wrong and goes against our basic human rights as far as I am concerned.
