Reinstate lost services at Redditch hospital
In 2016, Alexandra Hospital closed its children’s department. Children requiring emergency assistance then had to travel to Worcester Hospital, which is 30 minutes away. Half an hour is a long time when a child is not breathing or in a seizure.
The year before the maternity services were moved to Worcester. Heart attack and stroke victims are also redirected to Worcester. The ambulance response time in Redditch is lower than it should be as ambulances are based in Bromsgrove, not Redditch any longer.
These measures were ‘temporary’ due to staff shortages, but it has now been six years and more services are at risk, such as the chemotherapy suite. People are apparently fighting to restore lost services but nothing seems to happen.
It has got to be down to the people of Redditch to stand up for their town, their families and their needs!
