Truth And Reconciliation Commission For Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a broken country. There are many things that have happened that have been kept in the dark even from the families of survivors. We are therefore asking Parliament Of Zimbabwe to enact a law establishing a Truth And Reconciliation Commission to investigate human rights abuses that occurred since 1960.

There are many people who died during the liberation struggle the likes of Eddison SitholeNikita Mangena, JZ Moyo, Hebert Chitepo, John Mataure, Josiah Tongogara and many others whose fate is little known.

After independence there were massive atrocities committed in Matebeleland. No official count of the deaths nor official acknowledgement of the killings ever occurred. The victims need closure.

From 1999 to date we saw many killings and disappearnces. Former President Mugabe pardoned most of the perpetrators but with the truth still hidden from the people. No compensation nor restitution ever occurred. The likes of Tichaona Chiminya, Talent Mabika, Tabitha Marume , Shepherd Jani were all killed for their political beliefs. No one was ever held accountable.

We have other cases like  Rashiwe Guzha, Itai Dzamara, Nabayama whose disappearances have not been solved.

I believe only a TRC would help with the Truth, Reparations, Restitution and Amnesty so that the country can begin to work towards real unity.

The surviving victims of all these atrocities need closure and the country needs healing!
