Ban single use plastic produce (fruit and veg) bags

We all know the world is drowning in plastic waste. Our oceans are choked with it, and it can be found in the soil, in animals, and even in our food.
Single use plastics are particularly problematic since they are used for a short time and then discarded, spending hundreds of years in the environment before breaking down.
The Victorian Parliament has sensibly been working on legislation to ban single use plastic shopping bags, but this ban does not currently extend to produce bags. We believe it should.
To the Legislative Assembly of Victoria:
The petition of residents of Victoria.
Draws to the attention of the house that the legislation currently in development to ban single use plastic shopping bags in the State of Victoria does not currently include plastic produce bags. Yet these bags account for a high percentage of the single use plastics used and discarded by Victorian households.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly of Victoria take into consideration including these produce bags in the proposed plastic shopping bag ban.
This petition was put together by school aged children who stand to inherit this earth from the generations which have gone before them. If you care about our future, and the future of this planet, sign on and help to further reduce plastic waste, and make the world a better place for future generations.
