Citizens must be addressed as 'Sir/Madam' in government offices and specially by Police

Dear All,

I am sure we all must have faced some sort of humiliation while visiting government offices and while interacting with government officials specially Police. We can witness utter lack of respect for citizens because the colonial mindset, of being 'Master' not the public servant, is the guiding philosophy of our government offices and officials. The Government officials don't behave as public service providers rather they behave as they are doing favour and mercy on us.

There is no place for such colonial mindset of government officials in modern democratic India. Democratic Citizens deserve respect from their officials.

Therefore, I request Parliament of India ,being the supreme voice of  the people of India, to enact a law making it compulsory for all government officials to address citizens as Sir/Madam and also treat them with due respect. Also give training to government officials on how to behave with citizens while discharging their official duties.

Sign the petition,to raise our voice, if you also think that India should be independent from this disgraceful colonial legacy.
