Bring traffic police under the control of the Delhi government

Many people might not know that shockingly, the Delhi Traffic Police is not actually under the control of the Government of Delhi. There is very little your government can actually do to make your life easier on the roads because they have such limited power of Delhi Traffic Police. This petition aims to change that.
In 2015, the Kejriwal government had told the press they would try to bring it under the delhi government. No further news was reported beyond that. This petition will attempt to raise the issue again, and hopefully pressure the government to push forward on their promise.
Citizens of Delhi are fed-up of facing lawlessness on the streets of Delhi. Traffic lights are unmanned while traffic police officers stand meters away, waiting to fill their quota of 'chalaans'. This change would allow the Delhi Government to actually assert authority and reorganize Delhi Traffic Police. The introduction of new technology at traffic lights, in cars and on roads would be more than welcome to fight the horrible state of traffic and driving. At the very least the mandatory presence of Delhi Traffic Police officers at major intersections during peak hours to ensure useless jams are avoided, streams of cars cutting red lights, slowing traffic and causing mass-level noise pollution due to frustrated honking of car horns.
