Before last year our last referendum was in 1999!!! That's 18 years without the public being allowed to make any choices that impact their day-to-day lives.

Everyone on here is complaining about the fact that we have had more prime minister changes mid-term then how many times we have voted in the past 11 years. I however have something else to complain about. Looking into it, after a successful revolution the people expect the country to be better and prize equality of all. Even without a revolution the general public still expects to be a part of the country's decisions.

However, if you really think about it, Australia is nearly always the same as a monarchy except you get to pick your 'monarch' now. Wow what an achievement! Actually though, us, the general public, the so-called normal people don't get a say in anything unless we protest about it. The last referendum we had was in 2017, last year, it was the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey, which legalised marriage for homosexual people (finally). Before that our last referendum was in 1999!!! That's 18 years without the public being allowed to make any choices that impact their day-to-day lives.

Can you see why a democracy is verrry similar to a monarchy? If you can't let me show you some more points-

If a country is a monarchy the leader (monarch) makes all the decisions about the 'inside' politics (politics in the country such as roads, buildings, companies, taxes etc) and 'outside' politics such as trade and relationships with other countries. This monarch has a group of people that they are surrounded by that give him or her advice on what to do.

Does that sound familiar at all?

Yes, nowadays the prime minister can't just do anything but it's still too similar for my liking. My proposal is that every council e.g north Sydney council; will have mini referendums for most important choices that impact people in north Sydney, the state parliaments will hold mini referendums for things that affect the particular state and the federal government will hold referendums for things that will impact all of Australia

(so that one person can't give a company that's gonna ruin people's lives and the environment 2 billion dollars)

Sign this petition to change the ruling system and lives forever, for the better.
