Why this petition matters

Started by Poppy Pritchard

In late August I lost my boyfriend, Billy, who was only 20 years old. He was driving home on his motorbike when a 90 year old man (who was driving the wrong way down the A3) hit him and ended Billy’s life. Nothing has been done about the man who killed Billy, so that’s why I’ve started this petition. I think when you reach 70 you should have to retake your driving test. This is because at that age your reactions are slower, your vision is worse, and a lot of road laws could have changed since they have passed. Billy was so young and had so many goals and aspirations. He hasn’t been able to live his life, he’s left his family behind, including his niece which he hasn’t met because he died a month before she was born. I just want justice for Billy. Not all older people are dangerous drivers, but there needs to be some sort of retesting after so many years of driving, so we can see who are the elder drivers who shouldn’t be aloud to drive.
