lilly johnson started this petition to Parliament

31.7% victims of abuse are in married relationships, 40.9% of them have children in the household, 44.6% of victims didn’t know they were being abused and 16.1% thought what was happening to them was ‘just something that happens’

This is men AND women. Help make it a legal requirement for about to be wedded couples to show previous criminal convictions. This could prevent possible victims from getting into married relationships with past domestic abusive relationships or violent past. You should know your husband or wife. By allowing this law, near wedded couples can get the closure they need to feel a little more safer.

Clare’s law exists which allow someone to call the police and ask about a certain individual but 7.3% of abusers don’t show sign of abuse for the first couple of years. If this law becomes legal these percentages could possibly go down as people can be more aware of exactly who they’re marrying and their future treatment.

By singing this petition, we can get more awareness for the concern of men and women being abused domestically by their parents. We need to help these victims and potential victims in the future. They want to be heard and we hear them. They need us. They need help.
